Nemanja Vidić was born on 21 October 1981 in Titovo Užice, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia and currently plays for Manchester United and the Serbian national team. His physical presence, precise and firm tackling and good heading ability have allowed him to establish himself as a first-team player with Manchester United. His partnership with Rio Ferdinand is considered as being one of the best in Europe and has allowed the Red Devils to fend off the challenge of Chelsea in the Premier League. He is also dangerous when it comes to corners and free kicks in the opposition half.
Vidić is married to Ana Ivanović, an economics student at the University of Belgrade.
The couple has two sons, Luka and Stefan.
Vidić was named Premier League Player of the Month for January 2009.
He was also named Barclays Player of the Season for 2008–09.
Vidić has won the Serbia’s Overseas Player of the Year award for 2005, while he was playing for Spartak Moscow and won it again in 2007 and 2008 while playing for Manchester United.
He was part of the Manchester United’s defence kept a record-breaking run of 14 consecutive clean sheets.
Vidić started football at the age of 7 together with his older brother Dušan.
Nemanja Vidić father is Dragoljub, a former factory worker, and his mother is Zora, a bank clerk.
